If you are considering installing a mezzanine floor structure in your warehouse or place of work, you may not have thought that you have options! Here at Doity Engineering Ltd, we manufacture our own unique mezzanine floor, Revlok Mezzanines. In this blog post, we answer some of the frequently asked questions our customers have when they are considering a Revlok Mezzanine Ltd floor.
What is a Mezzanine Floor?
Mezzanines are a semi-permanent structure that acts as an intermediate floor between the main floors of a building. Mezzanine floor structures are a raised platform, often fabricated from steel. Beams and columns are fitted together to make use of vertical space.
What is the difference between Revlok and other mezzanine floor structures?
Revlok Mezzanine floors modular structure, manufactured with cold-rolled steel beams as opposed to structural steel, makes it far easier to install. It is just as secure as traditional mezzanine floors but takes less time, uses less nuts and bolts, and less fitters are required to install it.
Revlok Mezzanine floors are the only LABC certified modular mezzanine floor in the UK. This means you can only receive approved modular mezzanine floors from Doity Engineering Ltd.
Before manufacture and installation, Revlok Mezzanines are designed based on the unique demands and requirements of our clients. The mezzanine floor is designed with 2D and 3D graphics. After designs are approved, we manufacture Revlok Mezzanines using cold-rolled steel beams at our local facility. We not only design and manufacture, our team are the installers of Revlok Mezzanine floors too. As the Revlok Mezzanine is far lighter and easier to install, it takes much less time and manpower to install so you can enjoy your mezzanine floor structure as quickly as possible.
Do I need a site survey before a Revlok Mezzanine is installed?
Yes, we will survey and assess your site before we begin design and installation. Our mezzanine floor structures are designed to your requirements, so we will need to ensure the structure can be approved and will work on-site.
Do Mezzanine floors require building regulations and am I responsible?
Yes, a building regulations approval needs to be considered when constructed a warehouse mezzanine floor or any other mezzanine structure. Revlok Mezzanines are LABC certified and comply with building regulations, so we do fill out these surveys by default. It is good practice to choose a mezzanine floor manufacturer who does this, so you know that the construction is trustworthy.
Can my Revlok Mezzanine floor have a multi-tier structure?
Yes! Provided there is adequate space and floor tile stability for construction, Revlok Mezzanines can have staircase fittings and be multi-tier.
Does my mezzanine floor require disabled access?
This depends on the predicted function for the mezzanine floor. If it is for storage, you may not need to. However, if you will use your Revlok Mezzanine floor for a canteen or office space, for example, then you will need to consider access requirements. This can be discussed and planned into your site survey and completion of building regulations.
What are the health and safety regulations?
Health and safety regulations for each individual client are discussed during surveys and building regulation completions. Health and Safety will depend on uses, but some considerations are to incorporate fire protective ceilings, smoke alarms, handrails and staircases.
